This Association belongs to those Amazing Healers, who find it as their achievements in making their patients giggle, laugh and smile even when they are going through the worst.

Salute! And a Bow of Respect to all these ‘Kiddo Doctors’ from both Government and Private sector who work together to create A POSITIVE AND HEALTHY FUTURE; which is reflected by the decrease in Infant Mortality Rate(IMR) and Increase in Immunization coverage....

Goa Association of Pediatrics was established in 1988, founder members being Dr. Bhujangrao, Dr. Sunita Gaunekar, Dr. Anant Kini, Dr. Rosario Menezes, Dr. Avdhut Borkar, Dr. Santosh Usgaonkar, Dr. Rajendra Dev, Dr. Harivallabh Pai, Dr. Vinay Sawardekar and Dr. Avdhut Kossambe.

Later in 2003, IAP – Goa State Chapter was established under the able leadership of Dr. Shivanand Gauns, Dr. Dhanesh Volvoikar and Dr. Sushma Kirtani. Further on, as our member strength increased to 100, the then President Dr. Vinay Sawardekar along with Dr. Arvind Almeida and Dr. Harshad Kamat, demanded a separate Executive Board Member for Goa State and was pursued and achieved in a grand way by them.

This Association was setup with the certain aims, which has been almost achieved to an extent. Our aim Primarily lies in a HEATHY AND POSITIVE COMMUNITY for which, Our Association has been organizing Community Health Programmes, Camps along with health talks on relevant issues and topics especially for Angadwadi, Balwadi, general community, underprivileged children, HIV positive children and orphans and their care takers or guardians/others as a social service. Whilst doing so, we do keep in mind that what we preach has a scientific base and that it creates a positive public opinion. Many of our members work to make this objective a success.

Our members (working in Private and Govt. Sector) work hand in hand for better of exchange of new ideas. Our Fraternity keeps upgrading and getting acquainted with newer modalities and advances, (A perfect example of same being starting NICU care, Ventilator introduction in Private and Government sector) thereby reducing IMR to a very large extent.

We hold periodic conferences, CMEs and Seminars at State, National and International level as well. Recently, the concept (Proposed by CIAP) of Distant Education for practicing pediatricians of all ages has been introduced, which will include certified courses in fields of Haematology, Diabetes, Adolescence etc.

We plan to have very own library facilities as well, to help us refer to books when needed And not to forget, we lend our active support to all the major Government/ Non Governmental Schemes and Mass Programmes (CIAP Approved), thereby helping its success.

No wonder, cause of such a brilliant Approach and Dedicated teamwork our Branch has won the BEST BRANCH AWARD SEVERAL TIMES.

Our hard working committees members have insisted and ensured formulation of certain guidelines by government and otherwise, like maternity leave for 6 months, No advertisements of tin milk or baby foods, etc. wherein, as an united association we have been successful in our efforts.

One of our aims, that’s having a bureau for study and data statistic collection seems to be achievable as CIAP is planning to establish a similar bureau by making using of electronic modules in our OPD. The data will be collected at the central station and shall be used for records and analysis purpose. This idea will be implemented soon.

In future, we plan to own, purchase, construct, take on lease or otherwise acquire any land, building or any other immovable assets of any tenure as per the need of the association to carry out our administrative and other activities in the said premises.

Our other aim is to enter into agreements with other organizations for their affiliation to. or amalgamation with the society, or to affiliate with other organizations with similar objects.

Our member strength is of 140 odd members. Each member contributes to the health community and touches the human life in their own way with love, care, patience and dedication making our Association not only an Association which Focuses on A Happy, Healthy Adults of Tomorrow but also strives to make our above Aims a success.

There are many of Our Members who have their Own Achievements and are Proud Award Winners for their Exceptional Work. Our association is privileged to have such Gems as its members.

The Attitude of Our Members and Our Association, best summarized as, “We are the Advocates of the Adorables, Pacifiers of the Preemies, Bundlers of the Babies and Healers of the Sick. For us, Person is a Person, no matter how small. We unite to help them be Healthy (Physically, Mentally, Psychosocially), Independent, Beautiful souled Humans.”
